Does Slow and Steady Win Today's Race?

Image
If you’ve ever felt like this, then we’re alike. I came across the concept of slow living from a YT video and It was mind opening. I’ve never perceived my life like that, since then I’ve been researching about this concept and documenting my understanding of it What is Slow Living? I won’t bore you with the traditional definition but let me try explaining it as a feeling The Japanese have a word which comes closest to describing slow living -  'ukino' means  'to live in the moment and be far from common life matters'.  Can Anybody Practice Slow living? Yes, To start practicing it you needn't move away to an isolated town and farm for a living. Infact, you start it right now, by changing a few things in your regular routine like Leave your phone at home while going for a walk ( You’ll actually pay attention to the details like the shape of the leaves on trees, the fallen dried twigs on the ground, *ah, nothing like it* BE FULLY PRESENT WHEN HAVING A CONVERSATION. ...

Wait, Am I doing it all wrong?

Image
Wait, Am I doing it all wrong? Wouldn't life just be easier if It came with a manual? I’ve thought about it too. Well, I guess that is the fun of it. Recently, I found myself guilty for not being “Productive”. Trust me, social media doesn't make it any better. Do we as Society promote the unhealthy work culture? What can we do as individuals to unlearn what we’ve been taught all these years? Well, here is what I’ve been trying to do. It obviously isn't something you can do once, it is a daily practice Understand the contributors -  By  this I mean, what is making you feel “Unproductive” is it your peers, social media, yourself. Become aware and understand it is only a feeling. It is fleeting. In those moments, be extra gentle with yourself and know it is okay to do nothing. It is human. You are human. Get out of your own head - Sometimes, your own head can be a negative place to be. So take a walk, cook something, listen to music If all of this seems too much, just lay ...

Hair Care 101

Image
Hair Care 101 I'm out here living my low-key lifestyle blogger life. Firstly, I'm no expert at this, there are just tips and tricks I've been using for a while and I thought I could help my fellow readers. So here we go--  1) know your hair type - - So I think it's important your hair type to know what it lacks and how you could improve the quality, texture or to maintain the same texture, density and volume. There's generally 4 types of hair Straight Hair Wavy Hair Curly Hair Coiled Hair 2) REALLY know your hair - - by this I mean, know what issues it faces--dryness, dandruff,  split ends.  You could either consult a Dermatologist for the same or try home remedies if it's mild  3) Create a Hair Care Routine -- having a set routine can help you make sure you are giving your hair all the care it needs.  My haircare usually involves - washing my hair twice a week( I don't recommend washing it more than thrice, it washes out the necessary oil from the sca...

It's Okay To Not Feel Okay

Image
There is a word in the English language called “ Alexithymia” which means the inability to express what one is feeling and I think all of us go through this feeling. It's weirdly relieving to finally find a word for it. So “how are you?” “I’m good I guess” you say guess because you actually don’t know but you know you aren't doing fine, it's common courtesy to say good so you say it and have another soulless small talk and get on with your day So what should you do when you feel this way? Move on?Dismiss the feeling and hope you won't feel the same way the next morning? Here’s how I’ve learnt  Accept the feeling- More than anything accept that you feel this way and accept it, take it all in  Sometimes it's helpful to not keep dwelling why you feel this way , you will figure it out later.  For now, grab a drink, wrap a blanket and do whatever makes you feel warm and cozy What If you feel restless? If your brain is having countless thoughts and spiral into an endle...

Who Am I ?

Image
If you’ve ever had that moment where you’ve thought to yourself, “Who am I?” Is this what I like or dislike or is it what I’ve been taught or I think I like. Trust me, we’ve all been there. Although, there isn't a clear cut definition to this, sometimes writing can help you reveal things to you, abut you that you never knew If you’re interested to know more about who I am, Read on. Hey, I am Tanvi Gawali, I am 19 years old. I love to read and write. I read because in all this chaos, I find my solace in someone else’s words. I write because my thoughts pour themselves better on paper. I like to listen to 90s Music- I enjoy Hindi Classical Music and Gulzar’s Poetry And more often than not, I turn to books and admire their writing by reading their lines over and over. On my bad days, I find comfort in words, sometimes my own, often other’s in music, poetry, stories and conversations. I often try to find the meaning of life in the movies I watch. I cry when I’m angry and feel hopeles...

Lines to live by

Image
There are books you read once and forget but then there are books you come back to for guidance, for a character or for the appreciation  of the language .I am an avid reader and once in a while, I come across a few lines which make me pause, think and reflect or even read them twice to let them sink in. Books Have changed the way I look at almost everything Below mentioned are some hauntingly beautiful lines from Books which are close to my heart and I will never stop recommending them. This is a long overdue piece, so here goes, In no particular order or so and with random unrelated pictures Dying is one thing to be sad over but, living unhappily is something else” from “Tuesdays with Morrie” If I could dedicate an entire writing on this book I would, maybe I should but for now, Let me just say, these simple lines have made me contemplate so much, about how time is feeling and how important it is do things that make you genuinely happy. Not plan, but actua...

With New Year’s coming up, almost everyone has a journal in the to-buy list. But let’s face it, The constant instagram ADs about pretty journals is very tempting but given a second thought, they are impractical. The daily tracking of water intake, mood tracker is very difficult to keep up ( Trust me, I’ve tried) and don’t lie, you have too.  So I put together my own version of 2021 Journal and here’s how you can too.
