WHAT YOU SHOULD INCLUDE IN YOUR 2021 JOURNAL

Image
With New Year’s coming up, almost everyone has a journal in the to-buy list. But let’s face it, The constant instagram ADs about pretty journals is very tempting but given a second thought, they are impractical. The daily tracking of water intake, mood tracker is very difficult to keep up ( Trust me, I’ve tried) and don’t lie, you have too.  So I put together my own version of 2021 Journal and here’s how you can too. Be Realistic - So sort out what you would actually be able to keep up with and make a basic outline of how you want your journal to look.  So here’s what I decided my journal would have- Monthly Calendar Monthly Picks- books, shows, movies, songs Monthly Goals- personal, academic, work-wise Achievements of the Month Make it Pretty and Efficient - Choosing a theme monthly can actually help you look forward for the month and plan.  Something to even try is to add a theme which also helps you learn about something For Example- the different types of art,...

Why it’s okay to not have it all figured out

Image
Humans innately have this incessant need to have everything under control, maybe that is how we are wired, maybe that is why uncertainty bothers us. It feeds on us and eats a little bit if us, everyday.  As much as we hate to accept it, we cannot have everything in control, maybe it is meant to be that way, maybe it should be. Trust me, it is better if you leave some things be, let time or fate or whatever it is that you believe in, do it’s magic. If you’re looking for reasons to believe what I just said above, here are  a few- Because you’re young - whether you’re  18 or 40, you are still young, everyday, you get a little closer to knowing yourself. So don’t worry if you are neck deep in uncertainty about life, love or career, because I’ll let you in on a secret- Nobody has it figured it out either, and if you feel anyone does, remember from the outside everything is flawless, but if you closely, there are cracks, and that’s okay, that is what makes us human. Be...

Of Building Homes out of people

Image
For a while now, I have been trying to understand the concept of home. We often associate home with words like comfort, familiarity, safe and memories. Maybe that is why the world is such a chaos because we associate these these feelings to a person or people or even a place. which leads me to my epiphany, maybe we need to start to find these feelings within ourselves. Maybe we are "that" person for ourselves . Maybe the point is to become our own person and the "place" we call home is our heart.

AN OPEN LETTER TO LIFE

Image
AN OPEN LETTER TO LIFE The other day, I found myself recalling one of the things my friend said. It goes something like “ Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans ” . I’ve often found myself planning things meticulously to appoint where I made lists for things I need to make a list of. This got me thinking that most of the times that I’d planned something, I have always received something better from the universe, at the right time, exactly when I was ready to receive it. That is when I had an epiphany, that the amount of time I spent planning and contemplating everything, I missed out on Life. I could have spent that time reading, writing poetry, dancing So here goes, Life thank you for surprising me, exciting me and above all, to give me exactly what I need(ed) at the right time. One of my favorite movies, called “Me Before You” is an everyday reminder, to live each day, fully and unapologetically. The quote from the movie  " You only get one life....

Why do I write ?

Image
I have thought about this a lot, maybe someday, I will be confident enough to publish all of this, but for now, this should suffice. I’ve always wanted to write a book. But why? Because I have so much to say and sometimes even words fall short.  It is inane that in my worst moments I find comfort in reading and in my moments of euphoria I can barely type a full sentence without skipping to the next one.  There is this inexplicable urge to write everything I feel. Maybe it comes because I want to remember everything, maybe it comes out like vomit, to write and let it all out. Either way, I write like a possessed man who has been running on coffee, no sleep and i being driven by his emotions Maybe I write because once you write, it is true. I write for assurance or maybe I write about things that would take me away from reality into a fantasy- a place where people speak what they really feel and people feel understood. Maybe I write because that is all I’ve ever known- wh...

Break the auto-pilot mode

Image
So lately, I had been getting really worked up and would work under stress, usually guilt or the fear of not finishing the task at hand on time. Amidst all this and bad time management skills I had no "me" time left anymore and the tiredness and stress pent up week after week. so, eventually became an endless cycle of less sleep. tiredness and the need to give my 100% at everything I did made it worst and I decided to give up- give up my dance class, my gym sessions, tutoring , committee meetings. It all became too much and left me with no time to focus on my academics and myself. At first, it sounded convenient but it was also foolish to give up that I had worked for. After thinking it through I realized it had come down crashing because I did'nt give myself a break. So, if you have found yourself in a similar situation, here are some ways you can calm yourselves just pause, breathe. ( they might be different for each individual, but these are some of my ways to r...
