HOW TO FIND YOUR PASSION(S)?

If you are anything like me, you dream of becoming an astronaut one day and next night, you google “how to start your own business?”. You’re confused as to what you want to do? Welcome to the club, there’s millions of us out here. But don’t worry, you are not alone and SURPRISE! You really are not as clueless as you think.

Let me help you out!

WRITE IT DOWN- Take a paper, write down everything that you want to try, by everything, I mean everything, make a list. Once you’ve made a list, Categorize all your similar interests under one category

For example- I have wanted to try acting, Writing, directing for a long time now. After penning my interests down, I had an epiphany, All my interests come under one big umbrella- Media

This way, you actually might come closer to finding your passion.

BUILD YOUR SKILLS- Every interest of yours has a certain skillset as a pre-requisite, for example, for writing, it can be taking up a course- content writing course. Start learning and most importantly, PRACTICING, in this case, write everyday. It does not matter if it 1 page or even a sentence. Make it a habit. It will push you one step closer to your dream, everyday.

LOOKOUT FOR OPPORTUNITIES- ALWAYS be on the lookout for opportunities, this step may take a while, but don’t lose hope- look for internships, fellowships, mentorships, apprenticeships. These will help you understand how your passion is implemented in the real world and you can have a taste of it.

LEARN, LEARN & LEARN- Absorb every information like a sponge, whether it is from and internship, job. If not then, pick books that will help you grow and learn more about how you can hone your skills. Mind you, this does not stop once you achieve step (3). Infact, you will learn more from step 3. ALWAYS KEEP LEARNING

These 4 pointers are mostly the same for any interest that you pursue, once you’ve tried out one of your interests, tick that one off your list and go to the next one, follow the same steps.

Along the way, you will find what you love. It is a trial and error basis, but once you find something which makes you happy, you know it has all been worth it. Or you could try new things all your life and have many “passions”

Life is all about the experiences you make. Make it worth your time and effort.

Good Luck.
