Break the auto-pilot mode

So lately, I had been getting really worked up and would work under stress, usually guilt or the fear of not finishing the task at hand on time. Amidst all this and bad time management skills I had no "me" time left anymore and the tiredness and stress pent up week after week. so, eventually became an endless cycle of less sleep. tiredness and the need to give my 100% at everything I did made it worst and I decided to give up- give up my dance class, my gym sessions, tutoring , committee meetings. It all became too much and left me with no time to focus on my academics and myself. At first, it sounded convenient but it was also foolish to give up that I had worked for. After thinking it through I realized it had come down crashing because I did'nt give myself a break.

So, if you have found yourself in a similar situation, here are some ways you can calm yourselves just pause, breathe. ( they might be different for each individual, but these are some of my ways to relax myself)

1) READ-
I think I have mentioned this on almost all my posts but it is honestly unarguably one of the best ways to relax oneself. Reading books can take you to another world, a world that only you see. It improves your imagination skills and can give you an energy boost and can save you from the cycle of working mindlessly and aimlessly.

2) COOKING
by cooking, I don't mean making complicated dishes whose names you can hardly pronounce. Cooking can be anything from making yourself a milkshake to a big three course meal, it is all upto you.  Cooking is one of the most effective ways of relaxing and gives you a certain kind of joy which is inexplicable

3) PAINT/ DRAW-

I know this might sound boring or something which isn't on most people's list but it is proven that adult colouring books release stress and anxiety. Draw something, even if you do it well. Draw because it helps you express what you feel, because it provokes you to think. Colour because it calms you, because it feels nostalgic, of simpler times

4) DRINK CHAMOMILE TEA-
so if you are not a tea person, I still recommend you to try this out. Chamomile has a divine aroma that helps you calm after a long tiring day and maybe just maybe you could write down your affirmations and things that you are grateful for, it works wonders.
5) GO ON A LONG WALK-
Don't take your phone with you unless it is extremely necessary. This will allow your brain to focus on the things you have been missing out on- the nature around you, the people. Just sit and observe. It will be surprisingly calming to just see the world go by, as you sit and observe, you might even end up realizing some things.
all in all, if you ever feel like you are on auto-pilot, try switching your routine, try to do things a bit differently,  even if its changing up your hairstyle or your accessories. Plan dates with the people you love or if you feel like it, take a road trip to the nearest getaway for a weekend.
