I'm done gatekeeping these gems: understated short TV series
There are days when you feel like binge watching a series that leaves you pretzel brained for days but then there are days you need something quick, fast paced and enjoyable.
Here are a few gems you might not have heard of or watched multiple reels of:
1) Fisk:
This one popped up randomly on my Netflix. A six episode show revolving around a mundane wills & probate lawyer in a small town in Australia who clings to work, life and everything in between through dry humor. If you liked Derek, or the office (I mean who doesn't) try this one.
Genre: Comedy, Dry Humour
Where to watch- Netflix
2) Girlboss:Netflix's personalization game is strong, thanks to that, it led me to this. Girlboss is about a broke woman who turns her business of selling vintage clothing into a multi-million business. You will breeze through these 13 episodes before you finish you three course meal you decide is your cheat meal at 2 AM.
Genre: Comedy
Where to watch- Netflix
3) Derry Girls:One of my friends recommended this show and I can't thank her enough. I find myself rewatching this show every now and then for a good laugh. In a small town in Ireland, 4 catholic girls steer unasked trouble in the small town, plotting unsuccessful schemes to get popular and leave town, all leading to peels of laughter due to the sheer absurdity of the situation and the characters. The characters are so well-written, you will end up wanting to re-watch it, as soon as the three seasons are done.
The accent takes a while to get used to but, trust me, it only gets more fun.
Genre: Comedy

This show is a police procedure anthology which takes place in four countries. It's so intriguing to watch how criminals confess during interrogation and what gives them off. Every episode in each country is tailored to perfection. You will binge watch this series and it will leave you wanting for more.
Genre: Crime fiction

5) Crashing:
I discovered this show when I went down a rabbit hole of finding out about Phoebe Waller-Bridge and I was not disappointed. Six broke individuals live in an abandoned hospital and try to make it through each day. Chaotic, fun and unhinged. This show is most definitely an underrated gem.
Genre: Comedy
Where to watch- Netflix
6) Inside Man-
I stole this description from the internet because there is no other way to describe it. A prisoner on death row in the U.S. and a woman trapped in a cellar under an English vicarage cross paths in an unexpected way. This one will keep you at the edge of your seat.
Genre: Crime fiction

Happy Binging!
