The Monthly Discovery Reveal

One thing I absolutely love and spend most of my free time doing is finding

new things- Art, Books, Music, Shows,

Movies, Poems and I can go on and on and on.

Most things I find are usually through Pinterest,

YouTube Comments, Following a few YouTube Channels,

Reading an Author’s Favorite or about his inspiration

(Always a great way to find great art) .

Here are a few things I’ve discovered this month so far-

  • Music: Let’s start with something easy. I don’t really have a specific genre of music that I like but I think it could be broadly classified as Retro Chill or Vintage Vibe. This month I’ve Come across something a little different.
  • Halsey’s - “I'm not a Woman, I’m a god

  • Halsey’s- “Girl is a Gun

  • Cage the Elephant’s -”Cigarette Daydream”

  • Lord Huron’s - “Long Lost”

Honestly, I love the Lyrics of Halsey’s new songs, Makes me feel confident and powerful but Cigarette Daydream and Long lost have been playing on loop. Lord Huron’s have a sense of Calm and a weird sense of familiarity. If there’s one song you should definitely listen to, it’s this one.

  • Blog: I subscribe to very few blogs but one of them has been Vaibhav Munjal’s - Filming in the Dark. Vaibhav Munjal is a Mumbai Based Filmmaker, he also runs a channel on YouTube called “Chalchitra Talks”. I’ve been curious about filmmaking for a while now, so this blog is something I binge read. Even if Films mildly interest you, you should definitely read his blog’s. They’re informative, real and enjoyable. He writes about his experiences in life, about books, movies and art in general. One particular well written blog would be: “Murakami Women”

  • Movie: I was someone who honestly underestimated  animated movies, but overtime and after the Movie “Inside Out” my perception has changed. Since then  I’ve been on the lookout for animated movies. This month I watched this movie called “ The Mitchell’s Vs The Machines”. This movie will leave you feeling all warm and will make you miss your family. The movie revolves around a family called the Mitchells who save the world from a Robot Takeover. Fantasy coupled with Sci-Fi has never been this good in animated movies. Plus the family dynamics, it’s complexities and overall the subtle moments where the love is expressed will just leave you with endorphins and feeling happy.

  • Podcasts: I usually  listen to podcasts when I’m about to sleep. I usually like to listen to interviews or talk shows. Lately I’ve been listening to “The Oprah Winfrey Show” “Curious Muse” “TedX Shorts” and “The School of Life” by Alain De Botton. My personal favorite episodes would be-

  • Curious Minds- “The Man Behind the Art” - It’s about the famous Artist Van Gogh. A must Listen

  • TEDx Shorts- “Why do we Sabotage Love?”

  • Interviews with Anupama Chopra- “ Sanjay Leela Bhansali on success of Padmaavat” . There’s two interviews of his. I’ve replayed these two particular episodes over three times.

  • Article: There’s not many “Instagram Writers' ' that I like, hardly any, but I came across Shruti Sonal through Terribly Tiny Tales and I've admired her work ever since. She has a way of writing about life’s experiences and mundanity and stringing it in beautiful writing which leaves you thinking, every time. Her writing tugs at your heart strings and I’ve saved quite a lot of her writings, One of her recent articles was posted on Film Companion Website ( A company run by  film Critic, Anupama chopra) and I related to that articles because I lost a loved one and this article just put my feelings into words but even for the sake of the writing and motion, It’s worth a read.

  • Book : The Book is called “Love is a Mix Tape” by Rob Sheffield. I read this book because the concept seemed cool. The Story of a couple is explained  in the timeline of when the music was released or famous. But there’s more to it, there’s grief, a lot of Music Recommendations and a particular Chapter left me speechless where the Writer interprets Kurt Cobain’s Music and his life in general and it just left me mind boggled. I’ve never really heard Nirvana or Kurt Cobain songs but was always intrigued by the Artist's life and this book sort of made me go “Poof”. If you’re into music or are on the lookout for an interesting read, give this a try.
