Buried Treasures I Dig- Poetry, Films and Shows

If you write, you know you have half written stuff on your notes app, This blog post was buried deep in my app, until I remembered a particular line from one of the poetries and it all just came rushing back.

In the most simplest sense, if you were to take a sneak peek on my YouTube, here's what you'd see and I recommend this to anyone who enjoys art.

  • Spoken Word Poetry: "Why I don't fall in love" by Shamir Reuben

This one was introduced to me by my brother, and I had heard it once and didn't really find it amusing, but I came back to it later and since then, when I'm in the mood for poetry, I come back to this. Now I know, some of you may not approve of the artist due to an allegation, but the whole debate of Art vs the Artist has made me think of 'Art for art's sake'. Plug in your earphones and just take it in. Here's an excerpt from the poem, which I hope will convince you further.

"I think my love blinded me to the predicament we were in, both were breathing the same air,but only one of us was living a sin.....so when someone asks me-Shamir, why don't you fall in love? I do fall in love. It's just the definition of love is something I've never been able to infer. I found bad love at a good time and good love at a bad time, I just don't know which is it that I prefer."

  • Making of a scene: Inside a Scene(Film Companion): "Tamasha" by Imtiaz Ali
I've rewatched Tamasha more than I can count and yet every time I rewatch it, there's something new I uncover each time. The movie is so layered and hits the nerve of every youngster navigating their life. This clip gave me a perspective about the movie from a different lens- about acting, fiming, directing and emotions of melancholy.

Here's an excerpt:
"You know, sometimes you really fear people who see through you......but it is said that you can only hurt the people that you love..."

  • Short YouTube Video : "I needed color" by Jim Carrey
This one was sent to me by a friend, long time back and since then, I keep coming back to this video to remember the importance of creating, appreciating art and life as a whole. This video is'nt only calming, but profound.

Here's an excerpt:
"When your heart is in love, you're floating weightless. But when you lose that love, you have to re enter the atmosphere. And it can get pretty rough. Cause you're just bouncing off one molecule and onto the next. Ripping through them at such a pace that they just ignite and explode. Until you find another heart that's doing the same thing has landed and cooled. And then you start to float again"

  • TV Show: "Derek" by Ricky Gervais
I have said this once and I'll say it again, if this man published his grocery list, I'd read it, that is how much I find his thoughts and views amusing. Ricky Gervais's magnum opus, The office is talked about even today, but what of his other works, like Derek?
Derek revolves around the character Derek (no surprise there) who works at a retirement home. This mockumentary is light hearted but will keep up at night on how some intense emotions and topics are subtly explored.

  • Stand Up Comedy: "Jigsaw" by Daniel Sloss
I came across this randomly on a boring Sunday scrolling through Netflix and I was in for a rollercoaster. This man will make you laugh, cry and ponder all in a span of one hour. Need I say more?

Here's are some excerpts from the show:

I'll leave it at this.
There's always more to explore.
